I think I'll try acting

As I sit under the Oregon sun listening to my Lana Del Rey pandora station I procrastinate as hard as possible. All set to start writing my twenty page social policy paper for developmental psychology seminar. As I begin writing about dual language programs and their influence on non-english speakers I fall into character. I become a writer. Drifting, as I type, into the thought of all the other things I'd rather be writing about; my past, my future, the boy who thinks he broke my heart. I want to write. At this moment in time I cant allow myself to fall into that role, my grade depends on it. So I try to become this character, a developmental psychologist interested in improving social policies for English learners. Is this my future? Pretending to be something that seems realistic instead of doing what my heart desires?

What do I like?

Let me start by saying if you put Kerry Washington's face on it, I'll buy it. I love her as Olivia Pope on Scandal, I can't wait for season three to start tomorrow.  Over the past few months I've been trying a few new products, some on purpose and some just fell into my lap.
One product that was kind of an accident was the Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara in I<3Black. When I rented my textbooks for the semester from Chegg, I received it as a perk for spending as much as I did. I only buy Maybelline Mascara, I've been obsessed with The Flasies line for a few years now. Since I got it I've found myself reaching for it more and more. I've fallen in love with Lash Love.

Before this summer I never felt the need to touch my eyebrows, let me just say I'm glad that phase is over. I feel naked when I leave the house without filling in my eyebrows. It makes me feel a little more put together and the brand that's helped me do that Is Benefit. I am in love with Brow Zing Brow Shaping Kit, it's a bit expensive but totally worth it.
Another accidental favorite is the Mac Pro Long Wear Blush in the shade Stubborn. It such a natural shade on my complexion, I feel like I'm cheating on Nars but I think its beautiful.
Last but not least, my favorite of all favorites, Makeup Forever's Full Cover Extreme Camouflage Cream. Like it says in the name this concealer is full coverage and it does exactly that. My skin looks flawless when I use this concealer(not really but it gets pretty close).
I see this being a product I'll be repurchasing for many years to come. Let me know what some of your favorites are for the month/season.

When's the next sale?

As a college student on a budget I don't get to shop as often as I would like. This summer I treated myself to a few things that I wouldn't usually justify spending money on. One of those things are the high waisted faux leather shorts I wore a few days ago.

This is summer Zara had a huge sale and lucky for me these shorts were a part of that sale. It took a while for me to actually buy the shorts. After putting them in my shopping cart I would check the site every few days to see if they were still there. If they were gone then I would know it wasn't meant to be. After two months of keeping my eye on these shorts I knew they had to be mine.

Shirt: Forever 21 Shorts: Zara Shoes: Aldo

Watch: Relic Purse: H&M
Now that the sale is over and I'm back at school I can't feed the Zara addiction that I developed over the summer. I still check their website religiously to see all the pretty new clothes. Hey Zara, when's the next sale?!

Was That A Good Deal?

Yesterday I hit up the Woodburn Outlets with a few of my sorority sisters. I did a lot of shopping this summer so I told myself that I would mostly shop for workout clothes since there's Adidas, Nike and Under Armor outlet stores. As you can probably guess, that didn't happen.
Shorts: Adidas Sports Bra: Nike
Together the Adidas shorts were originally $53 but I got them for under $18. The original sales price for the sports bra was $35, it was then marked down to $24.99 but I got it for $12.50. This is probably the least amount of money I've ever spent on a sports bra, so that's exciting.

The best deal I found all day had to have been at Polo Ralph Lauren. While we were shopping my sisters decided they were all going to wear white shorts for bid day. Since I didn't own any white shorts that became my goal for the day. We went to American Eagle where everything was 50% off, but I walked out empty handed. Then we tried the Gap, their entire store was also 50% off, but there were not any white shorts. Before hanging my head in defeat I tried Polo. I thought that this was a long shot since they are usually out of my budget and they weren't having a ridiculous sale like many of the other stores, but thank heavens I tried.
Shorts: Polo Ralph Lauren
There were only two pairs of white shorts and luckily one of them was my size. They were originally priced at $50 then marked down to $15 but with my student discount I got them for $12.31.
That was a good deal, right!?
(If you would like to see what else I got leave a comment letting me know)

The First Day...Already?

Today was the first day of my junior year of college... I feel so old. It's been nice here in Oregon so I decided to wear an outfit that I probably won't be able to wear again for a few months. My style has evolved a lot since I graduated from high school. Now, I am a bigger risk taker, especially compared to many of my peers. In college, people like to dress comfortably but I believe if you look good you'll feel good. Since it's still early in the semester, I'm going to put on my best outfits until I'm too exhausted to try.
Skirt: Target Denim Jacket: Gap Shoes: Dolce Vita

Circle skirts have been very popular and I finally found one that I feel comfortable in. I'm 5'8" so they usually are very short on me but this one is the perfect length and it makes my waist look slim. I never imagined a skirt could be so flattering but I'm in love.

I have a few outfits I want to wear before it gets too cold out but I'm also looking forward to layering in the fall. What are some trends you're excited for?

Is My Lip Gloss Poppin?

Let me start by apologizing for the extremely cheesy title of this post but its the best I could come up with.

Over the past year my love of Nars Cosmetics has grown into a bit of an obsession, I've slowly been building my collection.
My Collection, it's small but mighty.

I started with the Amor blush, which I am in love with(its the only blush I wear). Recently I have been loving their lip products. I now currently own two of the lip pencils, Dargon Girl and Damned, and two lipsticks, Scarlet Empress and Fast Ride. When my mom saw me wearing Fast Ride for the first time she fell in love with it so I went back two days later to pick one up for her birthday. I of course had to treat myself to something while I was there so I picked the Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Corcovado and the Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in 413 BLKR.

I have never been a huge lip gloss wearer, I really like the matte look of the Nars lip pencils, but when I put 413 BLKR over Dragon Girl I feel in love. Even though I hate the applicator that the lip gloss has once its on my lips I am the happiest girl in the world.

So what do you think, is my lip gloss poppin?

Going Liquid?

My senior year of high school I got Mac's Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. It was my first makeup product and I've used it ever since. I was very nervous to start using it but over the past two years I have become obsessed with make up. I want to add new products to my collection and I think my next step will be buying a liquid foundation, but should I do it?

I've been going back and forth all summer. Part of my hesitation is the reason that I want to use liquid foundation. I have acne and acne scaring and I want to do all that I can to cover it up but shouldn't I be working get rid of my acne all together instead of just trying to cover it up? I guess I could do both.

Another issue I'm having is choosing a foundation. Recently I've heard a lot about Revlon ColorStay Foundation and Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation. I've seen both of these productions mentioned on other blogs and on Youtube so I began doing some research. I've been leaning more towards Benefit because I can walk into a Benefit store(there's one three blocks from my job) or into a Sephora and ask any questions I might have. The same can't be said for Revlon. I have to trust my gut, pick a color and see what happens. Even though Revlon is more than $20 cheaper my happiness is priceless, right?

So what do I do? Stick with my powder foundation or go liquid? HELP!
